Health Care

I oppose Obamacare. Health care decisions must be left in the hands of patients and physicians, not the government. As the wife of a physician and with 15 years in the medical profession myself, I recognize firsthand that health care reforms are needed.  I currently serve on a governing board for a Texas hospital.  As I travel areas of Texas, I am gaining insight and knowledge directly from stakeholders in the medical profession about areas of concern so as to better address health care issues.

Employment

Using the same “back to basics” approach I used as a Mayor, I believe we must stop government intrusion into the private business sector, cut job-killing taxes and wasteful government spending, allowing Americans to receive the rewards of their hard work.

Taxes

The current tax structure is out of control. We need a tax system that is simple and equitable such as the Fair Tax or Flat Tax proposals, or any other viable option that would be equitable for all Americans.

Education

We must have local control of our educational system, whether it is public, private or home schooling.

Our educational system should teach students American civic values and prepare them for entry into the workforce with leadership, vocational and professional skills that empower them to become productive citizens.

Military

The Federal government has the constitutional obligation to provide for the common defense of our nation.  It is imperative that our foreign policy is clear and concise.  We must never underestimate those who seek to do us harm and we must make it crystal clear we will act swiftly and decisively when necessary.

As a daughter, sister, wife and mother of those who have served or who are serving in our armed forces, I support our soldiers who risk and sacrifice their lives for our country. 

We must provide the best possible care for our soldiers, veterans and military families.

Veterans

Plain and simple, they served us at a time when we needed them. We now must serve them at a time that they need us.

Immigration

We must remove incentives for illegal immigration. Amnesty is not the answer. We must work together to find a viable immigration solution that respects the Rule of Law and supports economic prosperity.

National Security

We must take immediate steps to secure all borders, ports of entry and access points to the United States and its sovereign territories.  Unprotected access to our U.S. territory exposes our country, states and communities to threats of crimes ranging from drug smuggling to cartel violence to human trafficking to terrorist attacks.

Energy

We must make better use of our own God-given resources and reduce our dependence on outside energy sources.

2nd Amendment Rights

Our Constitution provides for the right to bear arms: "a well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." I personally have a license to carry a concealed handgun. In Texas we take pride in responsibly carrying out this Amendment and I vigorously defend our right to do so.

Pro Life

We must protect the sanctity of life for everyone. All humans are created with inherent value, beginning at conception and continuing throughout their natural lifespan as God ordains.

Pro Family

The family unit is the foundational resource for the care and well being of all individuals, and is fundamental to a healthy society.

Work Ethic

I believe in the enormous rewards realized by hard work: self worth, self esteem, self realization and self actualization.  Working hard gives individuals a higher purpose, benefiting the individual, communities and society as a whole.

Freedom

The pursuit of freedom is what has made America exceptional! I value freedom and hold it as every human being's God given right.
