Her Journey

Dianne CostaDuring her tenure with the City of Highland Village, Mayor Dianne Costa was well known for her regional thinking, communication skills and her ability to build consensus.  As a Distinguished Credentialed Mediator, Dianne has a firm skill set that helps bring parties together for a common good.  As a woman of faith, she offers a conservative pro life/pro family values base that has served her well in dealing with a variety of responsibilities and decisions.  As Mayor,  Dianne’s proactive approach to problem-solving served her well as she worked with her fellow council members.  She led the team that moved the City of Highland Village forward by  maintaining property tax rates, opening the doors to new commerce for a healthy sales tax base, high employee retention, recognition as the safest city in Texas, and a regional example addressing transportation needs for the future.

Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Dianne Salvagno Costa has lived her entire life in Texas with the exception of four years that her husband was serving in the Air Force.  As a youth, Dianne attended local Catholic Schools.  After graduating from high school, she attended Baptist Memorial Hospital School of Radiology, after which she was employed by the hospital for 3 more years.  Wilford Hall Medical Center in Lackland Air Force Base offered her a position in Radiation Therapy where she worked for the next 10 years.

Following her husband’s service at Scott AFB in Illinois,  Dianne and her family returned to Texas to reside in Highland Village. Here she volunteered in many organizations, including Child Protective Services Board , PTA groups at her children's schools  and being the Outreach Chair of the Highland Village Women’s Club for many years.  Dianne was instrumental in the formation of the Highland Village Police Auxiliary and served on various Citizen Advisory Committees.  She and her family were part of a small group of people that began RockPointe Church in Flower Mound, TX.

She and her husband, Dr. Dennis Costa, reside in Highland Village. Dianne has been blessed in the ability to participate in the raising of seven sons and two daughters as well as many grandchildren and  great grandchildren. When Dianne’s youngest child went to high school, she returned to school to complete her college degree, majoring in family studies with a minor in government.  Dianne graduated magna cum laude from Texas Women’s University.  Currently she is the owner of CEMA (Counseling, Education and Mediation Associates) of North Texas, LLC

After the last of her children graduated from high school, Dianne was encouraged to seek a position on the Highland Village City Council.  Her constituents elected her to a council position and Dianne served for a total of 8 years, the last 4 of which were in the position of Mayor for the City of Highland Village.

Dianne and her family enjoy spending down time at their property in Hamilton County, Texas.  It has become a favorite destination for family reunions and the perfect place to get away from it all and truly enjoy God's abundance.
